First world problems
We live in a modern world full of first-world problems. EZ passes, smartphones, conveniences built to make life easier at every turn. We strive for comfort.
But that comfort has a price tag we don't notice until later. The comfort slowly turns into stiff joints and a body that's stopped moving the way it used to.
The options
When faced with a choice between something easy and something harder, nine times out of ten, people choose the easy option. That's because we don't like to fail, and we don't like the unknown.
Possible solutions
Our daily routines drive our lives. What would it mean to build a routine that reflects growth instead of stagnancy?
Start small. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk somewhere you'd normally drive. Replace fifteen minutes of scrolling with fifteen minutes of movement. None of it has to be dramatic to count.
Journal prompts
- Where in my routine have I mistaken comfort for contentment?
- What's one spontaneous choice I've been avoiding because it's easier not to?
- If comfort has been running your days, what would it look like to choose the red pill, just once this week?
