We inherit our limits
We're taught there are limits everywhere. But when it comes to your actual potential, is it infinite or fixed?
Have you put a limit on what you believe you can accomplish?
The truth is, the universe doesn't limit us. We do.
The exercise
Take a piece of paper and list the areas of your life: work, relationships, fun.
Next to each one, write down a limit you've placed on yourself. Then name the belief behind that limit.
Example: the area is work, and the limit is I always play it safe with my career. The belief behind it might be If I ask for more, I'll be seen as ungrateful.
Now rewrite it: I am allowed to want more, and asking for that doesn't remove my gratitude.
Read both versions out loud. Notice what shifts.
You get to decide what you're capable of.
Journal prompts
- List the major areas of your life: work, relationships, fun, creativity, etc.
- Write down a limit you place on yourself for each area.
- Attach a belief behind that limit.
- Rewrite the limit into something more true.
Example: Area = Work. Limit = I never ask for help. Rewrite = Asking for help is a sign of good judgment, not a lack of skill.
