The Power of Going Offline

The Inner Guide

The Case for Logging Off

What are you consuming versus creating?

Your nervous system can't tell the difference between a work emergency and a notification buzz. Both trigger the same alert response. If it happens often enough you're in fight-or-flight all day, every day.

Here's what changes when you unplug, even briefly:

Your attention comes back.

Constant switching between apps and tabs fragments your focus. Step away and your brain gets a chance to recalibrate.

You notice what you actually think.

Most of us borrow our opinions and our mood from whatever's on the feed. Without that influence you start to find out what is your actual opinion.

Rest Becomes Possible
Sometimes as a people-pleaser, you want to be available at all times for everyone.

If people can't reach you, they can't demand anything from you. If they aren't taking your energy, you have that energy back.

Rest allows your nervous system to become more regulated.

Journal prompts

  • Find an online stopwatch. Track how much time you spent online today on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc. How many minutes in total?
  • Multiply the number of minutes you spent online by 365 days. Are you proud or surprised by this number?
  • What are some ways to detach from the internet this week?

Thank you for being here, and for taking the time to connect with your inner guide.
